YOUR APPOINTMENT, IN CONTEXT

Support a clear attorney–client conversation

Immigration consultations may involve a client describing a personal history, asking about a process or responding to an attorney’s questions. English–Spanish interpreting can support that discussion while allowing the attorney and client to speak to one another directly. The interpreter’s task is language support, not evaluating a person’s eligibility, selecting an immigration strategy or predicting the outcome of a matter.

Tell our team whether the request concerns a general consultation, an office interview, a preparation meeting or another setting. Identifying the purpose early helps separate ordinary law-office language support from an appointment with distinct agency or proceeding requirements.

Describe the setting before sharing the story

The first inquiry does not need a detailed immigration history. Provide the organization’s contact, the preferred date, the language pair, anticipated length and meeting format. If the client and attorney will connect from different locations, explain how the organizer plans to bring the participants together.

Do not include identification numbers, passport images, applications, government notices or private family information in an ordinary website inquiry. A general description such as consultation or client preparation is enough to begin scheduling. If particular reference material later becomes necessary, discuss what is needed and how it will be handled before sending it.

Keep agency-specific requirements visible

A law-office meeting and an appointment conducted by a government agency are different assignments. An agency, court or other organizer may have rules about interpreter eligibility, required statements, participation or documents. Our team cannot assume that a person available for an office consultation is eligible for every other setting.

When a request involves an interview or proceeding outside the firm, identify the organization conducting it and provide the applicable requirements for review. Confirmation should address that specific appointment. This website does not claim universal agency approval, court certification or authority to certify every kind of translated document.

Give participants time to complete their meaning

A client may need to distinguish between dates, places, relationships or earlier statements. A meeting works better when questions are asked clearly and the client can finish a response before the next subject begins. Participants should be able to request a repetition or clarification through the interpreter rather than relying on an uncertain assumption.

The attorney decides how to conduct the consultation and what information is needed. An interpreter does not fill gaps in a client’s account, suggest facts or answer questions on the client’s behalf. If a statement needs clarification, the conversation returns to the person who made it.

Plan separately for written materials

Spoken interpreting and written translation have different scopes. Discussing a passage during a consultation does not automatically provide a completed written translation, a certified document or a submission-ready package. If the firm needs work on written materials, describe that requirement as a separate inquiry so the language, document type and any certification expectations can be reviewed.

During a meeting, identify the material being referenced and make sure the participants are looking at the same passage. Avoid treating a long document review as a brief incidental task if it materially changes the appointment’s expected length or preparation needs.

Arrange office or remote participation

For an in-person consultation, use the appointment location’s ZIP code to check our listed dispatch coverage. Interpreter availability and assignment fit still require confirmation. For a remote meeting, describe the platform, participating roles and expected duration so connection arrangements can be discussed in advance.

If the schedule, format or purpose changes, contact our team before the appointment. A private consultation should not be assumed to include a later agency interview. Clear coordination gives the organizer an opportunity to review the right assignment rather than relying on a general request that no longer reflects the meeting.

Questions about this setting

Can you help with an initial law-office consultation?

Contact us to discuss English–Spanish language support for the consultation. Include the date, expected length and location or remote format. We review availability and assignment requirements before confirming an interpreter. The attorney provides the consultation and legal advice.

Does an interpreter booking include certified document translation?

No. Spoken interpreting does not by itself include a completed or certified written translation. Describe document needs separately, including the receiving organization’s requirements. Scope, suitability and any certification expectations must be reviewed before written work is accepted.

Are agency interview requirements checked automatically?

The requesting organization should identify the interview setting and applicable rules during coordination. We do not claim blanket eligibility for every agency or proceeding. Any required qualifications or approvals must be reviewed for the particular assignment before confirmation.

How can an attorney organize a meeting involving several documents?

Describe the anticipated document discussion when requesting the appointment, including the approximate amount of material and how participants will access it. The attorney decides which items need discussion and provides any legal explanation. During the meeting, identify the particular document and passage so participants can follow the same reference. If the request includes producing a written translation rather than discussing a passage, that work needs a separate scope review.

What if the client needs to clarify a name, place or date?

Give the client time to complete the statement and direct clarification questions to the client through the interpreter. Participants may need to distinguish spelling, a location or the sequence of dates without relying on an assumption. The interpreter conveys the exchange rather than deciding which factual version is correct. The attorney remains responsible for reviewing information, determining what is relevant and addressing any implications for the client’s legal matter.
